Fortuner on G variant doesn't have intercooler

I just wanted to know why doesn't the G variant or the D4D 2.5 engine doesn't have an intercooler. Isn't the engine will cause an overheat because it doesn't have an intercooler on their D4D engines?

The intercooler isn't a cooling system for the engine. Its for cooling down the air once it's been compressed by the turbo. Cool air is more denser than hot air which is more efficient at burning fuel.
