  • Daily drive + touring setup

After a couple of month wait for the bull bar mine is starting to come together. I was lucky enough to grab one new of the showroom floor in early June so no waiting for a slow boat to arrive.
The setup is a Crusade, and the build is focussed on it being capable at anything, while weighted towards daily drive, touring and reliability. The kit includes 17" wheels with 265/70's, provent can, diesel care pre filter, colour coded arb summit bar and steps, arb bash plates, ome lift, warn zeon 10s, arb recovery points, stedi 6.5 lights, safari snorkel, tow pro elite, ark dual trailer plug, focal expert front speakers, arb 2.5 encased awning and maxtrax on the roof. It's also got some exilerator pedal mods. Yet to go on are the firestone airbags, fumoto valve and some electrical work. I'm weighing up an optima red top battery replacing the main and probably a dc-dc lithium setup in the rear at some stage. Also considering some delios slotted front rotors.
Here's a crap pic, it's sitting on a fair angle so don't look at the lift, better ones to come...

I've attached a dozen or so pics of the bar work in the imgur link below.

The warn zeon mounts in the bar neatly without the control box sticking out or needing relocation. The bar sits at a nice height from the drivers seat, you can see the corners and top rail which helps with awareness of how much room you have to manoeuvre. The top bar might need a lick of matt black paint in a strip between 7-9 oclock on the rear above the headlights lights to cut glare (not bad but noticeable). Might have to black out the red recovery points while I'm at it (having thoughts of anodising the step plates and awning box black...).
The bar doesn't vibrate much on corrugations either.
Steps give a really good foot platform like the originals, but they sit higher than the the stock ones, giving a couple of inches of extra height to reach storage on the roof. The safari snorkel (not visible in the attahed pic as it's ugly as hell) isn't really visible from the drivers seat as you can see in the imgur pic.

Pretty happy with the OME suspension, no more rubbing with 265/70/17' s, ride is nice and firmwith less body roll in corners and diving under braking. 200% better on corrugated unsealed roads, but you have to watch it in 2H as when you lose traction in the rear end on corrugations you're typically pushing 20km+ faster than stock suspension, but traction control seems to kick in and straighten things up pretty quick.

More full size high def pics in imgur here, easier to put on imgur than uploading on the forum, and they don't get all jiggy if you try to zoom in on a mobile either: http://imgur.com/a/PPEiO

That looks awesome mate. I have the same model and colour and was unsure what bar to go for but after seeing your pics I think you've nailed it.

Hey Eastie. What was the overall lift with the OME suspension? I have been quoted only minor (15mmR and 35mmF). Would like to know real world figures. I have just bought the same model, colour, spotties and am installing the same bar. Thanks for the photos, validated my decision to go with that bar.

When I picked it up the front and rear numbers they quoted were in the low 40mm's,
