    Hi all! Johnny here.
Purchased a dealer owned 05/17 build Fortuner with approx 32,000km. I highly appreciate the abundance of information and its a pleasure reading the vast wisdom of "Spook" and "White one". Continuing to look on forum the car has 37,000km and parts are ordered for timing chain and new DPF. Trying to get everything done under warranty! Only mods at the moment are the ARB snatch points up front.
Might be seeing dealer later about the whining/bind up noise (car had barely legal tread from factory tires which means they drove 4H everywhere).
Being a truckie the Fortuner goes alright for a toy haha!

    Welcome aboard mate!
after over 130,000kms I still enjoy driving the car.
timing chain crank sprocket is random, like one machine messed up in manufacturing. Great to get it done though.

welcome to the club , as with you transfer case whining noise , make sure the car does go in and out of 4WD properly ( on a loose surface ) as there have been a few with bent shifter forks from the electric actuator not working properly. sometimes the fix is a broken plastic gear in the actuator , sometimes its a transfer case out job to replace the forks.

Good info! Never skips a beat going to 4H 4L and back, abit slow at times but roll the car a few cm and stop, goes perfect.
