  • Hello from Sydney

    Hi, my name is Kiat.
Been looking around for good info about Fortuner, and found this site, so I decided to register.

I'm a big fan of Fortuner, being the same platform as Hilux, is a very capable off-roader.

Have not received mine yet. The last I heard it's boarding a ship from Thailand enroute to Perth.

    Welcome to the forum Kiat!

You have the honour of being the first user to post on the website.

Yes, it is a very capable vehicle and has done extremely well in other countries and I am sure you will love it.

I am working to get as much info into the forums as possible to create a large community and information resource, and as I find out more from the suppliers and websites I will be posting this info up here.

Don't forget to to post some photos of your new Fortuner when you get it

I got it through dealership, but I have no idea what part no it is, looks different from the web. Was expecting a different type of weather shield, but this seem to works fine for me, and no wind noise on highway 👍

I am looking at the Redarc BCDC 1225. But I don't know if this vehicle required the LV version or not.
At the moment trying to figure out how to pull a 12v cable through firewall, to power up future devices from the 2nd battery.
And I'll probably use the 2nd battery to power up a pair of spotties/work lights, air compressor and a mini fridge, but all that will come much later.

I'm not really liking the headlight stalk... Leaves me no option to completely switch off the DRL; the AUTO seem to behave like its full time headlights ON , and the position =oo= light behaves like a AUTO... confusing...

Near where the 2nd battery will go there is a big rubber seal/grommet in the firewall with a big wiring loom going into it. You can pull the whole loom and seal out into the engine bay and then lube up a wire (a bit of spit works wonders) and start feeding it through. Ive managed to get a twin core 50Amp line through, along with switch wires for the LED bar.

I ran the twin core along the passenger side, under the trim by the doors. There is already a couple of wires and the water line for rear window washer there, so i wedged them into the stock mounts. Then up under the wheel arch trim and have it poking out of the hole where the third row seats were mounted. Ive chucked an anderson plug on the end and can run two fridges off it with no hassle.

Thanks deeman111, for the insights. I've uploaded this photo below... Are you referring to grommet 1 or 2 ? I'm assuming grommet 1 leads to behind the glove box near arch trim, so grommet 2 leads to same area (maybe not?) Any idea where the tiny grommet (green arrrow) on far right corner leads to? Under chassis / frame ? I plan to pull 2 wires through, one for the front near dash area and the 2nd to the rear.. I'm also looking for 12v trigger (ACC) wire for relays. Any ideas where to find this wire ? (I'm avoiding the cig lighter at center console).

I pulled mine through number 2 on that picture. It comes out high up in the passenger footwell but once you pull out the glovebox and trim under it (both easily done and designed to come off) its not that bad to pull it through. No idea where the green arrow popped through, i didnt want to start cutting holes in grommets just yet!

I havent had to find an ACC wire yet. My spotties run off the high beam switch, and i grabbed the switch illumination 12v from the other switches next to it. If you have a multimeter it wont be that hard to find a 12v acc wire. Just ensure any joints/connections you do are soldered and not just crimped. Crimps are bad news as they can fail easily.
